J. Bryan Nicol

Candidate for Orange County Supervisor, District 5                     

·                Homeowner in Lake of the Woods for 15 years

·                Married to wife, Traci, for 29 years

·                Father to three adult children, Jack, Samuel and Maddi

Bryan will represent all citizens in District 5 bringing his extensive public/private sector and Orange County experiences to deliver solutions for:

Ø  transportation issues facing Lake of the Woods/Orange County;

Ø  appropriate and complementary development to Lake of the Woods;

Ø  protecting Lake of the Woods interests at a county level; and,

Ø  advocating for fiscal responsibility and ensuring Lake of the Woods receives value for the many contributions our community makes to Orange County.

Orange County and LOWA Service:

·       Orange County Planning Commissioner for District 5 (includes virtually all of LOW)

·       Bryan voted against the Wilderness Crossing development, calling for complementary and harmonious development near Lake of the Woods

·       LOWLINC – Bryan serves as an Advisor to the LOWLINC organization

·       Bryan has worked with the LOWA Board and various LOW Committees including the Planning and External Affairs Committees

While serving on the Orange County Planning Commission, Bryan has studied and addressed the significant issues facing Lake of the Woods and Orange County such as transportation & traffic, development issues such as Wilderness Crossing development (Bryan voted against the misguided rezoning), significant water and utility needs, buffers, noise and associated issues impacting our community at Lake of the Woods.

Professional experience

Bryan brings more than 36 years of public and private sector service including:

Ø  Former Deputy Attorney General of the State of Indiana

Ø  Served as Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner of the Indiana Department of Transportation where Bryan was responsible for 5,400 employees and a $1.5B budget

Ø  Private sector business operator

Ø  Currently serves as the Chief Strategy Officer for an architecture, engineering and consulting firm.  Bryan is a nationally recognized leader in transportation and infrastructure services.

Ø  Member of the Indiana Bar
